Monday did not start off so great. It started raining and didn’t stop for a good 4-5 hours.
At times, it rained so hard the street looked like a creek. Rain, rain go away…
I needed it to stop raining because I had been working on my pasta salad since the night before. This salad was due to make its appearance at 2:00 PM. I had worked hard on this salad. It took me forever to chop up the vegetables needed! And this photo didn’t even include the olives I had to chop.
Lucky for us, the rain stopped and the sun came out just in time for our planned festivities. We had plans to go to my oldest brother’s house for a barbecue and to check out his new boat. They live on a lake just a few miles from us.
I love their deck. It’s like being in a treehouse.
Their backyard is pretty steep leading down to the water allowing for great height on the main floor of the house.
Two of my three nephews that broke a bone since I broke my ankle were there. My 14 year old nephew joked that there may be something wrong with our family. I told him we just take our love of being active to the extreme. I will say I am jealous of my 4 year old nephew’s orange cast. Why couldn’t I have a fun neon instead of my blah gray?!
(Ignore OMG Becky’s sour look. She was trying to hand me something and I was too busy taking a picture to respond to her quickly enough according to her timetable.)
Dinner/lunch/mid-afternoon meal was served and it was yummy! My veggie and cheese sandwich on a hamburger bun, homemade macaroni and cheese, vegetarian baked beans and pasta salad.
My pasta salad turned out great! Totally worth all the dicing and then stirring several times throughout yesterday evening and this morning. Thanks to my ex-SIL for sharing her recipe with me yesterday!
And there were cookies!
Sassy and my mom made sugar cookies and then “attempted” to frost them. They apparently “broke a few” and had to eat them. Uh huh. Likely story.
After lunch it was time for the main event. A ride around the lake on their new boat!
Our Captain and his Skipper…
I love being on the lake! I could have spent the entire weekend out there.
What did you do for Memorial Day?
