Have you ever had what you thought was a deal with someone and then they let you down by not holding up their end and then you realize maybe you never really had a deal after all? Maybe it was all in your head. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good idea, just not equally agreed upon. Have I totally confused you yet?
You see, the past few weekends that I have been working on Saturdays at my parents’ business, I stop and buy Starbucks for us. And then at the office I find a doughnut waiting for me. Except last Saturday. No doughnut. What the heck?! I thought we had a deal! Apparently I was wrong. But lucky for me, my dad was on his way back to the office. He picked up these lovelies after an SOS call from my mom after I threatened to take back her hot chocolate. Yes, she orders hot chocolate at Starbucks. Yes, I am embarrassed to order it. 😉
Anyway, back to the good stuff. These were the best donuts ever! Seriously, still hot, melt in your mouth, gooey goodness. They were completely messy and I can’t stop thinking about them. I want another one right now!
After work, I made a stop to do something I had been considering for a long time.
I signed up to be a bone marrow donor.
A local church was hosting a Be the Match registry drive in honor of one of its members. I am excited about the possibility of helping someone else, if needed.
Later that afternoon, Sassy and I thought we would do a little shopping for her birthday party this coming weekend. We didn’t take into account that EVERYBODY else in town would be there in preparation for the forecasted Snowmageddon 2014. I made the mistake of pulling into this shopping area and then couldn’t get out.
There were lines of cars going every direction. We never even made it into the store! I just can’t deal with shopping crowds or traffic.
We made it home and hunkered down for the night. We had a winter storm warning with a forecast of sleet, ice and 8-10″ of snow that started Saturday through late Sunday.
They were wrong. We woke up yesterday to white, but it was just sleet covering everything. Midday we finally got some snow. Big, huge flakes! We ended up with a few inches, but nothing like they thought we might get.
The girls got to enjoy a day off of school today due to the storm. It brought arctic air with it meaning negative temperatures for us, as in new record lows. We needed hearty, warm food tonight.
I tried a new recipe for a vegetable curry dish. We liked it, but mine turned out much runnier than I think it should have been. I will have to work on that next time.
Any ideas on how to thicken that recipe?
How was your weekend?
