Friday Fit Fix

It’s Friday!  It’s Friday!  And I am doing my Friday Happy Dance!  And that means it time to look at my Fit Fix.

  • Friday – Treadmill run
  • Saturday – Walk with my girls & nephew
  • Sunday – Hike with Sassy
  • Monday – Treadmill run & weight machines
  • Tuesday – Booty exercises at home
  • Wednesday – Treadmill walk that started as a run, but shins weren’t feeling it.  Decided instead to walk and do the incline variety program & weight machines.
  • Thursday – Started out on a morning run around my neighborhood.  Shins said no.  Back home I went to wrap my sorrows in compression socks.

As soon as I got home, I put on my new Zensah compression socks that I recently won.

Oh man, that felt great.

And then I got a call to substitute teach.  (When I have a day off from my regular job, I try to pick up a day subbing.)  I quickly got dressed and realized I couldn’t wear these socks.  They would require actual shoes instead of sandals.  Too hot and humid for that.  Good thing I also have ProCompression sleeves!  I decided my new maxi skirt would be the perfect cover-up.

Well, almost.  It worked pretty well, except for the long slits on both sides.  Purple sleeves with a neon orange and beige skirt totally match, right?  I had a couple of kids ask me what was wrong with my legs.  Hee!  Oh well, I would rather help my legs feel better than worry about how they looked.  🙂

I haven’t had shin issues in a long time.  As in two years ago when I first got serious about running and wanting to increase my distance.  I started a training program that wanted me to run 3 days a week.  I thought I would be smart and run it as often as I wanted.  Most days, I was running two times a day.  Um, yeah.  My body rebelled immediately and my shins hated me.  I learned my lesson.  Rest days are important.

But now my shins hurt again.  And I am not sure why.  I’m not running everyday.  I am not running far.  I am seriously hoping it is not my new running shoes causing this issue.  I would be sad if I had to return them!

My plan is to not run or walk today.  I’m going to take a yoga class this morning.  I will run tomorrow in my Asics, if my shins let me.  I will to continue running in them until my shins are no longer an issue.  Then I will try the Saucony again.  If the shins cry mercy, I will know those shoes are the problem.  😦

    I have had the same dilemma this week! I am usually a dress/skirt girl most days of the week, but I’ve worn pants twice already just so I can wear my compression sleeves! I don’t have any maxi dresses that long 😦 Hope they are feeling better!
