I spent five hours in the emergency room this morning. My ankle swelling had not gone down, I still could not put any pressure on it and every movement in the leg hurt.
X-rays showed a lateral break that snapped off the end of my fibula. Apparently when my ankle rolled, the ligaments stretched and pulled the bone apart. The specialist has scheduled me for surgery this Friday. I will have either a metal plate or wire and screws installed to repair the bone. Right now I’m rocking a half cast.
Please excuse my toenails and their dire need for a pedicure.
I am to stay off of my foot and keep it elevated until the surgery and at least a week after. I’m told we are looking at about 12 weeks of recovery.
I was able to get a refund for my race this weekend. And I need to see if I can do the same for my race next month.
And now I am enjoying the fuzzy feel of my new painkillers.
Tell me something to make me smile!
