Favorite Holiday Tradition

We have arrived at Day 11 of the 25 Days of Blogging Christmas Challenge (link in my sidebar).  Are you playing along yet?

11.  Favorite Holiday Tradition

We have so many!  We visit the same Santa at the same mall every year.  The girls also pick out a new Hallmark ornament during this annual visit.

But my favorite tradition is probably Christmas Eve with my parents, siblings and their families.  We attend a candlelight service at our church together, then gather back at my parents’ house for dinner and gifts.  Santa visits while we are at church so there is always a surprise waiting for us!

The evening includes lots of activity, people milling around, visiting, snacking, playing games.

And the annual photo of all the grandchildren in attendance that year.

Yes, the girls far outnumber the boys in this generation.  Nine girls and five boys, currently.

Gifts!  We take turns opening gifts.  I love this!

I really enjoy seeing what everyone else receives, their reactions and the face of the person giving the gift.  Priceless.

And then the girls and I head home to get ready for Santa to visit us later that night!

We change into our pajamas, take turns reading The Night Before Christmas and set out milk and cookies for the jolly old elf.

What is your favorite holiday tradition?
