After work on Saturday, I had to hurry home to get my chili for the cookoff going. I was smart enough to do all the required chopping and mixing the night before. Such a time-saver!
While I got the chili on, OMG Becky and my niece, Myo, were busy baking cookies for the bake sale.
Snickerdoodle, M&M, and no-bake cookies. We obviously had to taste them all for quality. ;-)
Soon enough, it was time to head to the church to set up our table. All contestants (14 of us!) were allowed to arrive an hour early to decorate our tables. With the help of OMG Becky and Myo, we had come up with the idea of doing a Noah’s Ark theme with water, sand and land. Cue the turf!
That was fun to cut with my miniature scissors.
OMG Becky decided the animal pairs needed a sign each. They said things like Eat Leaves flag for the giraffes and Team Green for the lizards. Seemed appropriate for a vegetarian chili table.
Ready for the judges!
The judges were anyone that wanted to pay $5 each to taste all the chilis. Each judge was given a set of scorecards to use throughout the two-hour event.
Sassy took this job very seriously.
OMG Becky and Myo worked at the bake sale table.
So many yummy treats to choose from!
We had seven other family members come by to support our fundraising efforts.
Lots of great chili and treats for all!
Then it was time for all the judges forms to be tallied.
After what seemed like forever, the first, second and third place winners were announced. I won…

Nothing. Whant wah. But that’s okay, it was a great event that raised a lot of money for the kids trip this summer.

what a great fundraiser, I know a sorority in my college did this every year and it was a hit
This was our first time trying it. Pretty sure it will be an annual event!
aww man I’m sorry you didn’t win. I think you design is super creative!
Thank you! Either way, we had fun.
This is so creative, I love it!!
Kind of funny, I don’t make chili often but I made it for supper tonight – and vegetarian chili at that! We had a snowstorm today and it was so cold out that it seemed like a good day for chili
I’ve never made a bake sale item.. Mostly because I seriously doubt I could pay anyone to eat my attempt at baked goods, let alone charging them money for them! I love to buy other people’s homemade cupcakes tho!!
Thanks!
Chili is the best when it’s cold outside. Warms you from the inside out!
Our cookies were a good, can’t mess up too bad, combo. No Bake were from scratch, M&M cookies from a mix and the Snickerdoodle were frozen cookie dough bought from a different fundraiser.
