We finally had our first winter storm warning yesterday. Just two days short of March. Crazy weather this year!
My girls were so excited to wake up and check the school closings this morning. They were so sure school was going to be canceled. They were wrong. They are use to Midwest winter storms and getting several snow days a year. I think they only had one here last year. Big disappointment for a kid.
We only got a few inches down here in the valley. But the storm is suppose to last through today, but I don’t think we will get much more here at the lower elevations. Doesn’t matter to the girls anyway. After today they are out of school until Tuesday for student lead parent/teacher conference.
Is your area being hit with this latest round of winter storms?
I am trying to love it, I really am. I have had it twice now. The first time I had an Athenos peach. It was okay, but nothing I would crave to have again. Today I had an Open Nature honey.
I did not like it. At all.
So what’s the deal? Am I going to find a brand/flavor I like? Or should I just give it up all ready? Do you love it or hate it?

It was another fun weather day today. My morning commute looked like this…
Gray, wet and snowing.
And then the snow stopped. The clouds parted. The sun came out. The sky turned blue. And the temperature started to rise! All resulting in this evening commute…
Last night my friend and I went to the opening night of the play, Animal Crackers.
We are so lucky to live in an area full of world-famous, local theaters! The play had a few glitches, but the actors were amazing and worked the missteps right into the show. It was a comedy and they had us laughing all night long!

Today I was itching to be outside and said yes immediately when a friend asked me to go on a challenging hike with her. She is training for a spring trek in the Himalayas. I have to live vicariously through her!
We set out mid-morning and it was just beginning to warm up in the valley. But we weren’t hiking in the valley. Nope. We planned on a little climb in elevation.
R brought Winslow, The Wonder Dog with her. I love hiking with him! He provides a great distraction and constant entertainment.
Ran into a bit of snow, but not too bad. The trail itself was pretty clear.
We ended up gaining over 1400 feet on our hike. The views were so worth the climb! Got about six miles in just under 2.5 hours.
How was your weekend? Did you spend it inside, outside or both?
Do you go to live theater often?
Conversation I just had with my 10-year-old daughter…
Me: Sassy, I love you!
Sassy: I love you, too. Sometimes.
Me: <look of shock>
Sassy: Just kidding <pause>… Sometimes. <evil laugh>
I really don’t know where she gets her sense of humor…
I have been MIA this week, but I have a good excuse. Really!
I am working in a class out-of-town all week. Not far enough to need a hotel, which is nice because I get to see my girls, but the long hours are not fun. Between the class, the commute and stopping by my office before or after class, I am putting in 13 hour workdays. And each day seems longer than the last! Yuck.
And my next day off is not until Sunday, making today my Wednesday. Waaaa!
And yes, I would like some whine with my cheese. Thank.you.very.much.
We always bake our “grilled” cheese sandwiches. Really easy to do. Construct sandwich the usual way (butter, bread, cheese, bread, butter), but instead of grilling, you bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes on each side.
Tonight was the best combo of ingredients ever!
Can you say “amazing?!” Sorry I didn’t get a photo, but I took one bite and couldn’t stop eating.
What’s your favorite ingredients on a grilled cheese sandwich?
Today was such an odd weather day.
We literally went through the same weather cycle probably 11 times today. No exaggerating! It would be clear, blue skies with fluffy, white clouds.
And then 20 minutes later dark clouds would roll in, block out the sun, turn the sky gray and then it would start sleeting.
Blue sky, white fluffy clouds, sunshine and then dark clouds, gray sky, sleet. Over and over and over and over.
I kid you not, I looked at the clock thinking it was 5:00 PM, only to find it was barely 2:00 PM! Longest day EVER. I think the constant blue, gray, blue, gray cycle had my body thinking we had just witnessed a week and a half pass. Blah.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
I woke up to two daughters very excited to share the gift they bought me. And what was it?… It was a fairly large box of chocolates. Love chocolate!! They know me so well. And a homemade card. I’m a lucky, lucky mom!
I hope your day was as special as mine!
Today I woke up to snow. Sassy was entirely too excited to show me the snow outside her window.
Blah. I am not a fan of snow. I like to see it around me on the mountains. But not in the valley! Where I drive. No.thank.you.
One of my offices is in a basement without windows. When I am in there I have no idea what is happening outside. When I went in this morning it was grey and still snowing. And then…
I came out to this!
The snow had all melted away except up on the mountains. <Insert happy dance!> My favorite kind of snow!
We have a lot of local trails. So many that I don’t think I will ever be able to explore them all. But I have fun trying!
Today I hiked with a great friend through a familiar park. We started on a trail I had been on many times, but then took a turn along a route that was new to me. The trail was narrow and rocky on many parts for I was looking down, watching my step most of the time. As we reached the top of a small hill, I looked up to see this…
A water reservoir! I backtracked on the trail, but couldn’t fit it all in the photo. It was so big!
I love being in the woods, exploring the trails, how they change day by day. It’s amazing to watch, always something new to see.
Such a great way to spend my Sunday morning!
How did you spend your day?
